Skoda Kyliaq Set to Shake Up India’s Compact SUV Market

Skoda Kylaq can shake the compact SUV market

German auto brand Skoda has recently decided to launch a compact SUV in India.

Skoda already has Kushaq in the Indian market to compete with Creta and Seltos, but it hasn’t been selling in large numbers, due to which Skoda has decided to launch a small mid-segment SUV in India.

It's worth mentioning that most of the vehicles in India are sold in the price bracket of 5 to 10 lakhs. The Tata Punch leads this segment and the second name is Tata's Nexon. Both these vehicles sell in very high numbers for Tata. Tata has also launched the facelift of both the vehicles a few days ago

The declining demand for sedan vehicles is driving the growth of the SUV market. In this scenario, every company wants to stake a claim by launching SUV vehicles in India.

Hyundai's Creta and Kia's Seltos are maintaining a stronghold in the Indian market and are selling in very good numbers.  Mahindra's Thar Roxx, which was launched a few days ago, is fast becoming people's favourite vehicle. In such a situation, German companies have also set their sights on the SUV market and these companies have also changed their products in India.

Skoda Kylaq is an under sub-4 meter SUV which competes with Maruti Suzuki's Brezza, Tata's Nexon and Mahindra's xuv300 in India.

Skoda's biggest weakness has been expensive maintenance, but in the last few years the company has made a lot of changes and now the maintenance cost has become almost half of what it was before.

If Skoda is able to improve its maintenance cost and average, then it can make its mark in India with this vehicle. Skoda does not have any hit product in India right now.
